Harrodsburg, Kentucky - The 11th Annual KY’s Fort Harrod Beef Festival is set to take place in Harrodsburg June 10-11th . The festival committee is excited to announce that the Fort Harrod Beef Festival is being sanctioned by THE KANSAS CITY BARBEQUE SOCIETY (KCBS). KCBS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque and is the world's largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 20,000 members. In addition, KCBS has an extensive Certified Barbeque Judging program and it is the largest society of barbeque enthusiasts in the world. The benefits of having a sanctioned contest are numerous: A sanctioned contest offers the Fort Harrod Beef Festival: (1) Integrity, (2) Experience, (3) A built in base of cookers and judges, and (4) A support system of other organizers and members. A KCBS Certified Judge evaluates in three different criteria: taste, appearance and texture. KCBS also serves as a clearinghouse of barbeque information which provides: Networking with related trade associations and other contest-sanctioning organizations, Tracking trends in barbeque related products and equipment, Teaming up with other food organizations and the media to promote barbeque. KCBS offers educational programs, consultation services, certified judges, and civic organization presentations to help promote barbeque as America's Favorite Cuisine. Kentucky’s Fort Harrod Beef Festival is looking forward to the new partnership with KCBS and what it will bring to the festival. The Beef Festival is FREE open to the public with lots of family friendly events such as the signature steak and egg breakfast, 5K, bicycle fun ride, Thomas the Train ride, carnival games, vendors and more.
